Thank you for asking me to field test your No-Float Stix on my trip to the Salmon River, New York two weeks ago. I spent two days on the river, which was running at more than 550 cfs with a temp of 38 degrees. Needless to say I needed a dependable convenient staff. Your Stix lived up to your description. It was easy to hike with, it did not float so it stayed put when placed behind me in the river and was immediately available when needed. In all it is a great tool. I recommend it to any and all Fly Fishers.

Hi Tom, Thank you for allowing me to try out your wading staff. the staff performed as you advertised it to do so. I found that it was easier to use than others that I tried. It holds and remains in the area when you take your hands from it. I also found that because it doesn't float it won't hang in front of you as the floating staffs do, which can catch the loops in the fly line. I always would hang the floating staff' over my left shoulder in order to prevent line tangles. Not so with yours. It performs as you said it would.

A Revolutionary New Concept In Wadding Safety The No-Float Stix.
Hello
My Fellow Fiberglass Fly Rodders I hope this is the right place for this ,I wanted to be sure all of you had an opportunity to learn about this important new product ! I want to take this opportunity to endorse and review a revolutionary new concept in wadding safety the No-Float Stix. This product was designed by my good friend Mr. Tom Toomey better known as T.T... Tom has worked over 10 years developing this wading staff; the product is second to none currently available in my opinion.

I was never one to use a wading staff until a few years back when I nearly drown in the Shetuckett River here in Connecticut after an unscheduled dam release. I saw the light as they say and at that point I felt like a fool for never having or using a wading staff. So I did what everyone else does I made a wading staff from and old hickory stick, well that was more trouble than it was worth all it did was float down current and get tangled in my line.

So being a penny pincher I went to an aluminum ski pole next that was a little better but still gave me problems getting tangled and after loosing a few really good fish only because my line was hung up in the staff. I couldn't get my line back on the reel to play the fish the ski pole literally got tossed on the bank.

My name is Bruce Marino. I am a professional fly tyer and guide on the Farmington River in CT. I was introduced to the "No-Float Stix" wading staff in April of 2009. It has quickly become my wading staff of choice. One of the features that make STIX stand out is its sturdiness. I believe it is the strongest in the business. Its one piece construction eliminates broken cords and stuck connections which can be very frustrating and time consuming on the river. Its no float characteristic makes it easy and safe to use. This is one staff that you'll never trip on. Another feature that makes sense is the large rubber bottom. This stops the staff from sinking in muck or soft bottoms. Try this staff! I think it will become a staple in your fly fishing equipment.

I took my new No-Float Stix to the Salmon River, New York on December 4, 2008. The wading staff lived up to your description. It was Great. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was easy to hike with. On the river it stayed where it was put, kept out of the way and was immediately available when needed. As you know the Salmon River runs fast and cold in December. A dependable wading staff is a must for safety. Your staff is the best that I have used. I heartily recommend it to any fisherman.fly or otherwise who wades rivers. Good luck with marketing the No-Float Stix, you have a winner.

I thought I would write to you and tell you what a great product you have come up with in the "No-Float Stix." When I met you this past summer while fishing the Housatonic River, you had your No-Float Stix with you. When you described its benefits over any other wading sticks that are on the market I just couldn't wait to try it out. I just want to thank you for allowing me to use the No-Float Stix for the last 8 months.

This No-Float Stix is the best wading stick I have ever used, period! I have had several knee operations and my legs are a little wobbly, especially when in a river with the current pushing against me. I can't count the number of times I was knocked over while fishing and using other wading staffs. They lend little support in the current for me and it is hard to get them to the bottom in fast current

The No- Float Stix is so strong, sturdy and solid. When using it I felt sure of foot and confident. I knew I had a wading stick that if I needed I could really lean on. It is by far the sturdiest wading stick I have ever seen or used. Another great thing about the No-Float Stix is the way you have it designed to stay put and not float away even under fast moving currents and waters. With its specially designed weighted tip, I could not believe how wherever I placed it in the water, it stayed right there; it did not float down stream at all! What a relief not to have to reel it in when I wanted to take a few steps or to have it get caught in the fly line when landing fish. It is always along the side of you and within reach when needed.

The Solid design of your No-Float Stix also makes it a great walking staff when you are making your way up and down the paths along the stream. The overall weight and height make it very easy and accommodating on the person using it.

It's a Great product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a safe, solid, sturdy wading staff. Thanks again for the opportunity to test the No-Float Stix, I love it!

The No Float Stix wading staff really makes you feel secure when you are on the river. I really like the weight of the staff. It’s a little heavier than your typical collapsible staff but it has the strength to hold up your body weight when you really need to bear down or lean on it when in a bind. You don’t have to worry at all that the staff is going to bend or fall apart on you when you need it most. You don’t have to worry about internal bungees or cords snapping and falling apart. I personally have a hip problem and the days that I am fishing very rocky rivers and the flows are high, it is nice to know that I have a staff that can handle the worst of conditions. The other nice feature is exactly what its name says; no float. It takes on water and sinks to the bottom and stays there. It doesn’t get taken away with the current. You never have to worry about it getting stuck behind you wrapping around your legs like some staffs tend to do. Plus, I can take the staff and place it far behind me and out of my way so it’s never a hindrance. Kudos to Tom for making this one of a kind wading staff.

"I have burned through several wading staffs in short time but it appears the No-Float Stix is able to handle not only the abuse I put one through personally but the rigors of constant use by our clients. A sure grip foot, quick sinking ability and super strong spine make this the wading staff of choice! The No-Float Stix gives me a greater comfort level when our clients are wading the New River and our trout streams. Thanks for a SUPER product Tom."

As an avid fisherman of more than 25 years, and fly fisherman for over 20, I have always been a gear junkie, rods, reels, lines, gadgets etc. etc. One piece of gear of which many find is an integral part of the whole complete angler gear repertoire is the wading staff. I have gone decades without the use of one and have taken my fair share of spills, some minor in nature and others near misses in terms of catastrophic embarrassment or injury. I am a very aggressive wader, and my stature allows me to do so without regard for what lies under the waters surface. I guess the real reason why the wading staff never made its way into my list of goodies was for the shear fact that I found collapsible staffs as useless items that got in the way either folded up in their pouch on my wading belt, or floating behind me tangling my fly line as I embarked upon my fishing adventures. Even guiding clients I always sang their praises even though I never had one with me on my trips, a gesture I am certain didn’t go unnoticed.

Then in March of 2009 I was given a No-Float Stix wading staff by Tom, the creator of the product. Noticing that this particular staff was much different than any other on the market, I put the staff to the test with clients and on my own fishing endeavors. It wasn’t long before I realized that this product stood alone. The business end sank to the bottom of the river, while the handle stayed afloat, an attribute that was non-existent among other models, and probably the biggest reason that I never got around to purchasing one in the past. The staff works as good today as the day I received it, and I wouldn’t put anything else in my clients hands while traversing the two rivers that I guide on. In fact, last week I forgot my staff at home and subsequently took a spill in the upper Housatonic that punctured my waders, bruised my shin and knee, and made me realize that the river always wins. Needless to say, I will not leave home without my No-Float Stix wading staff. Thank you for a great product,
Sincerely,
Rich Strolis

I want to tell you how much I enjoy using the No-Float Stix wading staff. This is by far the strongest wading staff available. After years of using flimsy fiberglass wading staffs I am grateful to have one that will support my full weight if needed. It not only helps in gauging the strength of the current but gives the necessary support when wading difficult streams. I would recommend this product to all stream wading fisherman, it is a life saver.
